Dwayne Bakaas has 15 years in the Measurement-While-Drilling and Logging-While-Drilling industry. He brings 12 years of Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Repair expertise of downhole equipment and understands the technology used in the downhole equipment at an electronic, mechanical, and system level. He was involved in the design and engineering of numerous downhole products. He operates OilField Guidance Inc. and IT Guidance Inc. (A Computer Service Company) which offers unsurpassed technical knowledge. He also brings a very practical and proven method of tool operation and maintenance to his current role.

Career History ::

Dwayne Bakaas was educated at SAIT for Industrial Electronics and started his career working in SCADA Systems (Instrumentation) during which he traveled to Singapore to install and commission an elevator monitoring system, which at the time, was the largest monitoring system in the world with more than a million monitored points.

His career then progressed with a large multi-national MWD/LWD company as a Maintenance Technologist for their downhole drillings tools, where he serviced the Mechanical and Electronic Systems. In a short time, he progressed from Maintenance Technologist to the Department Supervisor. An opportunity in Houston, Texas, on a large engineering campus then allowed him to work on one of the few Rotary Steerable projects of that time.

While in the US Dwayne had an opportunity to join a Canadian company starting up in Houston. He transferred back to Calgary in 1997 as the manager of Maintenance, Manufacturing, and Repair. He was then promoted to Technical Services Manager, which was an International role that involved supervising the Technology in the Districts. This was a liaison position between Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair, and Management; a translator between numerous departments.

After a time, he decided to formalize his computer training by becoming Microsoft Certified. He then started his first company, IT Guidance Inc. (ITG) which offers on-site visits for businesses and home users to diagnose and fix computer problems at a competitive rate. ITG supports approximately 400+ home users and 40 small to medium sized businesses in Calgary and throughout Alberta .

2-3 years into ITG, the oil patch started calling again. In October of 2005, he started the companion company, OilField Guidance Inc. This company provides Sales, Service and Rental of Measurement-While-Drilling Equipment and Logging-While-Drilling Equipment.
